Crescent Movers are Unprofessional ...PERIOD

(I got jipped out of money and movers were inappropriate). A older woman that I had known since childhood had REFERRED me to Crescent Movers. The manager, Brian reached out and gave me a quote. Then I made an appointment. The team came on a Thursday, the day of the move and told me that I had to rent boxes for my clothes that I had already packaged in bags ($15 for box). This was not discussed ahead of time. I think the team leader was a guy (I think his name was Luis). I asked them to be careful with a particular antique table item and they ignored me. They used the table to support some boxes after I asked them not to. They were so much in a hurry that they did not want to take any of my clothes and smaller items because they said it was too much. The team leader recommended that I do it myself with friends and family. So the clothes got left. Then when I got to my new apartment (house). I was rushed to pay and one of the other movers KEPT ASKING FOR MY TELEPHONE NUMBER. Afterwards, I sent an email to Brian (the manager) about the problems, he apologized and said that he would fix it. I told him to come back on Saturday and we scheduled an appointment. He called me at 12pm, back after 15 phone calls and said that he couldn't find anybody. By then, I had been waiting for the movers for almost an hour to come. My lease was up on Saturday. Then I asked him to come on Sunday and he said "no". Then I told him I was going to write a bad review/contact the news and then he responded by saying "yes". I said he should meet me on Sunday at 12pm. Sunday came around and thank God that I worked something out where I could finish with friends and family before 12. Because 12pm was too late. It took 3 cars and 2 trips to get all of my stuff from the apartment. Some saintly neighbors came to help me. I then asked the manager/Brian for a reimbursement. He said he would try to get $50, then I said $100. Then he said maybe $75. He NEVER called back, I know never to use these movers again.

Job done right!

This company is the best company I've ever used for a move. They were amazing from the booking all the through the end of my move. The staff really personalized my move. The movers were professional, fast, and careful with my stuff. I would highly recommend them and will definitely be using them again.

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to Charlotte, NC

Unethical, Terrible customer service

Do not use Crescent Movers. Would give zero stars if I could. This is a long review, but please if you do anything, read my bullet point list below.

You will see in my Yelp review history I do not typically review, but you’ll also see I give positive reviews as well. Here, I have to give Crescent Movers the lowest possible rating I can. I could go through the ins and outs of the story, but I want to make sure you read all of this and know that this is NOT a credible company. customer service is horrendous and follow through is terrible.

I used Crescent Movers for my long distance move. The following occurred:

-A mover broke my $5000 dresser, a glass drawer. I understand the risk with glass and moving furniture, but the mover was carelessly yanking the drawers out (they were empty). I heard the tail end of this while i was on a phone call and re-entered the room.

-The force of the yanking broke the drawer. the mover lied to my face to say the big crack was there before. Please see the picture. I would have seen this. I told him he was lying and he told me “fine, call management”

-I call Jimmy and he tells me a guy in Chicago can potentially fix it. I have to call Jimmy back repeatedly to confirm if this is going to happen even when he tells me he will call me back. it doesn’t happen.

-I call multiple glass places in my new town and no one will assist because it’s custom glass work. I don’t blame them, but I share this to demonstrate I was trying to find a solution.

-I call management and leave many messages to understand what will be done to make me whole. They insist they will fix this situation. No one calls me back.

-After they move me in, I get to payment and I have to haggle with the mover to take money off. he’s making me feel terrible it’s coming out of his paycheck. I try to call management, no answer. We can only agree to take a fraction (SMALL fraction) of the price off. This is where I went wrong. I shouldn’t have paid.

-The next day I get a text from one of the movers asking if I tipped at all because if I did, he didn’t receive it. I did. The other mover, who broke my drawer, took the entire tip for himself. How unprofessional that a mover has to text me to check on their tip.

-The drawer with the glass broken no longer works. In the process of yanking it out they ruined the traction so I have a useless drawer. unfortunately I didn’t know this until after they left.

-I’ve called management since to try to work out a solution (i.e., fair compensation) and they do not return calls

It’s one thing to damage a piece of furniture. But its another to have horrendous customer service and not truly work with your customers on a resolution rather leaving them to leave bad reviews and let everyone they know to not use your business. Please beware and make sure you are prepared for any inconvenience and not receiving ANY help from the Crescent Movers team.

Good movers, but someone is a thief.

These guys worked very hard, during a miserable rainy day. We tipped each guy $25, bought Gatorade for them, and gave away a few things, including a $175 space heater to the crew. So it's super upsetting that a bag of jewelry I never packed (which is my bad..I had hid it in our bed frame when we went out of town, just to be safe, because it contained family heirlooms and my most precious pieces), somehow ended up at our new place..but I never found it. How do I know it ended up at our new place? Because one of the honest movers found a single earring from the bag AT OUR NEW PLACE and gave it to my husband (who was an idiot and just threw it in his pocket and didn't tell me until the next day when I was freaking out over having forgotten about the bag in the bedframe and unpacking everything but never finding the bag..he was like "oh that one nice guy handed me one of your wedding earrings"). SO..a tiny bag of jewelry containing two pairs of earrings, three rings and a necklace is never packed but hidden in a bed frame that the movers take apart at the old place. The bag does make it somewhere in the new house and is opened enough that a single earring falls out. But I never find the bag.
Great movers. But one of them is a thief.

Unprofessional Crew.

While I gave them 5-stars for my move on 10/28/19, it's sad to think that my first encounter on 10/25/19 can only be rated a 1-star. You may ask why go from a 1-star to a 5-star? The answer is simple - it's all about the crew they send. Tony and his team were awful. They did not introduce themselves when they came to the house; the smell of cigarettes and alcohol was nauseating. Tony's attitude was demeaning and disrespectful. Just so things can be in perspective, and I don't sound like some whining person; when it was time to pay, Tony said: "see we work together, and now you can give me a good tip." Nope, I walked away and let my spouse handle it. So do I think Crescent Movers is a reliable company; the answer is simple. Yes, with the right crew. I would recommend that you ask for Johny, Lu, and Jay what a difference a team makes. To Crescent Movers, I say the face of your company is the crew, so make sure they are professional, friendly, and respectful.

Lack of Professionalism.

I apologize for the long review in advance, but it’s well warranted. To those who are planning a move with Crescent Movers, I would like to give fair warning to anyone considering hiring their services. Our family has used their company a number of times in the past and so we were fairly confident in the services that they provided. Prior to our latest move, we had also referred their company to other family and friends, in which we have now come to regret.

We had commissioned their services earlier this year on February 26th, 2020 with a move that was within the same township. During the move, a number of items were damaged. Among these items was a brand new 55 in’ Samsung TV valued at $400 that was purchased only 5 months prior to our move. Other items that were damaged were smaller items including picture frames, glass mugs and Yankee Glass Candles that are retailed at a value of $30 themselves. These smaller items were divided between two boxes, clearly labeled FRAGILE, in which were either mishandled within the truck and dropped in the street. The head mover, Luis, stated to us that he did drop one of the boxes in the street that was labeled fragile. Never did he mention that items fell out of the box onto the street. When the snow had cleared the following day, evidence of broken glass were strewn about the pavement in front of our house.

Of the approximately $450 worth of damaged possessions, we have not received a single penny in recompense, even after the fact that one of their team members openly admitted that the fragile contents of the labeled boxes were damaged up on his fault of dropping them in the street.

To this day, we are also missing wooden shelves that go to a hutch that we had also purchased 5 months prior to our move. Since the move, we have made several phone calls, as well as multiple sent emails, all of which have been ignored. After repeated efforts, we finally got in touch with a member of the company named Jimmy, in which we were issued an apology and were told to provide them with the brand and model # of our TV. We were then told that we would be sent a replacement once the company had researched various retailers for the best price. The issue of our other damaged items and missing shelves were never acknowledged, but after a month of unanswered correspondence, we were temporarily satisfied with the compensation of a replacement TV and would inquire about the lesser valued items at another time, yet again.

After an entire week had transpired with no word from the company, we were forced, once again, to make repeated phone calls over the course of several days in an effort to obtain an update. When we were finally able to get a hold of someone responsible for our compensation, an employee named Brian, told us they would no longer be able to help us out, nor replace our TV, claiming that because the TV was wrapped by us, the customer, they were not liable for any damage that the item sustained during the move. Being that my husband and I are not professional movers, we placed some bubble wrap that we had left over from packing boxes and placed it around the LED screen, confident that the company would reinforce our amateur efforts. They chose not to and because of it, our TV was chipped in the process summarily running the screen.

The carelessness of the movers, in which we placed our full trust in, has resulted in damages equivalent to roughly 80% of what we paid for their services. After carefully reviewing the contract, nowhere did it state that any item packaged by the customer prior to the move exempts the company of any liability for damage sustained to said item. They are using a feeble excuse to abdicate themselves of the damage in which they are solely responsible. Aside from the careless efforts of the employees the day of our move, the office managers have shown a blatant lack of professionalism for the month and a half that we have made countless attempts to reach out to them. What my husband and I find worst of all is the company’s unwillingness to stand behind their mistakes and accept responsibility for their faults. To anyone considering Crescent, learn from our mistakes. Avoid them at every cost, as they are not to be trusted.

Professional movers

Went from a 5 bedroom house to a 2 bed condo on the 3rd floor. The guys were quick, thorough, and friendly. They carefully took apart my grandfather clock to move it and put it back together. Highly recommend them. So flexible on date changes also.
